“CUPERTINO, California―May 16, 2013―Apple today announced that customers have downloaded over 50 billion apps from the revolutionary App Store. Customers are downloading more than 800 apps per second at a rate of over two billion apps per month on the App Store. The 50 billionth app was Say the Same Thing by Space Inch, LLC, which was downloaded by Brandon Ashmore from Mentor, Ohio who received a $10,000 App Store Gift Card to commemorate this historic milestone.

“Apple would like to thank our incredible customers and developers for topping 50 billion apps downloaded,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The App Store completely transformed how people use their mobile devices and created a thriving app ecosystem that has paid out over nine billion dollars to developers. We’re absolutely floored to cross this milestone in less than five years.”

The App Store opened in July 2008 with 500 apps. Since its introduction, Apple’s incredible developer community has created an app for doing almost everything imaginable on an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

“We were blown away with our success on the App Store back in 2008,” said Rich Riley, CEO of Shazam. “And almost five years later we continue to be amazed with how much people love using Shazam on their iPhone or iPad. With the App Store, we can effortlessly provide users with updates that give them great new features while making it easy for new users to discover and download Shazam for themselves.”

“We started our company in 2008 as three friends focused on creating great educational apps for our children,” said Caroline Hu Flexer, co-founder of Duck Duck Moose. “The App Store brought ‘Wheels on the Bus’ to the world in a big way. Sixteen apps later, a fan base of millions of parents, children and educators and a growing company with 20 full-time employees, we couldn’t be happier with our success.”

“The App Store has been integral in getting us into the hands of millions of iOS users and has transformed our business,” said Elizabeth Francis, Chief Marketing Officer of Gilt.com. “Our apps allow our members to access their favorite sales on Gilt every day, anytime, anywhere. App Store customers have proven to be a loyal shopper base and have been influential in making Gilt the globally recognized brand it is today.”

The revolutionary App Store offers more than 850,000 apps to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 155 countries around the world, with more than 350,000 native iPad apps available. App Store customers can choose from an incredible range of apps in 23 categories, including newspapers and magazines offered in Newsstand, games, business, news, sports, health & fitness and travel.

50 billion unique downloads excluding re-downloads and updates.

iPhone targeted by advertisers.

 iPhone targeted by advertisers.

Advertisers spend three times as much targeting Apple devices as Android ones, according to a new study — a stat even the most devoted iPhone users wouldn’t brag about.

The iPhone monthly ad share grew 12% in the first quarter of this year and now accounts for more than 50% of mobile ad spending, according to the report released Thursday by MoPub, a mobile ad exchange that allows app publishers and advertisers to engage in bidding for advertisements. As a result, the cost-per-thousand views is 40% higher on iOS than Google’s Android.
Why are Apple users bombarded with more ads than those who own rival devices are? Experts say the user base is considered a more upwardly mobile demographic. “Apple has more desirable customers,” says Sarah Rotman Epps, senior analyst at Forrester Research. Cheaper Android phones reach more people than the iPhone, she says, but around 15% of Samsung  smartphone customers get free Android smartphones that come with wireless contracts. “These accidental customers are in the lower third of income earners in the U.S.,” she says. “They’re not necessarily the customers that advertisers care most about reaching.”

Latest iPhone buying trend.

cover.jpg

For many Americans the iPhone 4S  and 4 are better ones when comparing it the Apple’s latest version i5. So there is no surprise that iPhone 4S and 4 are still selling faster at low price than the latest model hand set. Another reason for their sales is that they are heavily discounted at US$ 100 - US$ 200 at stores. So it means people love iPhone5 but not at this price they want it to be more cheaper. on the other hand the American phone users are turning towards to Android platform Smartphone. And there is a big gap between the Android users and the iOS users as the Android seems to be the clear leader. Means the other Smartphone are out selling the iPhone in the American market.
So it is time for the iPhone makers to come out with a cheaper handset, and no wonder they may have to turn their operating system to be Android too. The popular social networking Facebook too has decided not to invest on the expensive platform to launch their new Facebook Home App, and they too went to their rival Google’s platform Android to introduce their new product recently.

That said, iPhone users who switch from other carriers will still be getting an iPhone 5 for $99 less than current T-Mobile subscribers who want to buy the device and for $199 less than what they’d pay on other carriers. T-Mobile’s full press release is posted below.

“Our message to iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 customers is simple: bring in your device and trade up to iPhone 5 on T-Mobile,” said Mike Sievert, chief marketing officer for T-Mobile. “We’re making it incredibly attractive to buy an iPhone 5 by pairing an un-beatable upfront price and trade-in offer with Simple Choice, the most hassle-free and affordable rate plan in wireless.”

T-Mobile offers iPhone 5 customers one of the simplest and most competitive consumer rate plans in wireless. Rather than providing a dizzying number of consumer rate plans, T-Mobile has just one: Simple Choice.

T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan starts with a base rate of $50 per month for unlimited talk, text and Web with 500MB of up to 4G speed data. Consumers can add 2GB of up to 4G speed data for $10 per month per line or get unlimited 4G data for an additional $20 per month per line. Customers can add a second phone line for $30 per month, and each additional line is just $10 per month. There are no caps and no overages.

iPhone 5 will be available nationwide on Friday, April 12 beginning at 9 a.m. at all T-Mobile company-owned retail stores, as well as online at http://www.T-Mobile.com. iPhone 5 will be available for well-qualified customers with T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan for $99.99 down and $20 per month for 24 months. 0% APR O.A.C.

1Financing is available on approval of credit online and in participating locations. Device loan balance due on rate plan cancellation. Not available in the District of Columbia. iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 will be available in select markets.
