iPhone where to find

iPhone 3GS, Where To Buy In Sri Lanka?

Writing by admin on Friday, 29 of January , 2010 at 9:15 am

Where to buy iPhone 3GS in Sri Lanka? We used to get this question regularly as Sri Lanka is enjoying the 3G, 3.5G network nearly all over the Island nation. Sri Lanka’s leading mobile phone service provider Dialog Telekom earlier announced about the availability of the Apple’s iPhone in Sri Lanka market throughout their dealership. But suddenly they backed out from the dealership of the iPhone in Sri Lanka. They didn’t give any reason. Even the Apple Inc producers of the iPhone never mentioned about the Sri Lanka iPhone dealership or about the Dialog Telekom deal.
To market the iPhone 3GS in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka telephone regulators must approve the iPhone whether it is suitable for Sri Lanka and there is no security threat for the security of Sri Lanka.
Secondly there are rumors that the Apple Inc normally requires any country dealer to accept a number of iPhone sets to be purchased yearly from them. (Normally 40,000 units). This could have been a big target for a Sri Lankan mobile phone company where most people are interested in cheap priced Chinese mobile phones. Most smuggled in Chinese made mobile phones can be bought just for US$ 30 in the local market where an iPhone 3Gs will cost a lot of money for the ordinary Sri Lankan people.

There are advertisements in the newspapers and internet about the iPhone availability, mostly from Colombo, Sri Lanka. Anyone can contact the iPhone seller through their mobile phone and buy from them. But the important thing is, if any thing happened to your iPhone it may take a long time to come back to your hand after the repairs. Also the owner may experience some problems when the Apple makes new updates for it’s iPhone 3GS.
If you have any friends abroad tell them to find for you to bring an iPhone which is unlocked. There are some mobile phone carriers offer unlocked iPhone in some countries. They can pay the customs duty and can bring it inside of Sri Lanka if they are allowed. Other wise they must take it back once they are going back as the product will be marked in their passport.
From Sri Lanka you can use your credit card and buy iPhone from online web sites for the original price and with international guarantee. But the problem is once the iPhone reach here in Colombo it must pass the custom officers at the GPO. So again you must be ready to proof them that the iPhone is acceptable mobile phone in Sri Lanka through the method they require. If there is any operating trouble for your iPhone you have to send it back overseas as there are no official dealers in Colombo to give you a replacement iPhone to give you and take your iPhone to repair. This will also take a long time.
In Sri Lanka most of the carriers are capable of handling the iPhone 3GS specially the Mobitel which is offering 3.5G network and Dialog Telekom where it offers 3G network in Sri Lanka.
So wait for a dealer in Sri Lanka to come forward and sale the iPhone 3GS with all the deals and facilities.
